Thank you !

The fireworks and band Ministry of Rock

Update on support of our local community event, cracker ‘Fireworks night’ held on Saturday night 28 July.

Fantastic to see thousands of people gathered and enjoying the night together… with the finale of some brilliant fireworks!

Thank you to our major sponsors NorthConnex

And our other event sponsors:

Thank you to Matt Kean, Martin R Dargan, Geoff Knowles, the WWBA Committee and all the fab volunteers who supported this wonderful community event, to formally announce the $40M funding secured for development of this site!

Thank you to our musicians for the entertainment:

  • Michael on his didgeridoo
  • Thornleigh West Public School Stage Band
  • Live Band ‘Ministry of Rock’ and their support crew

Around 4,000 people turned up on a cool winters’ evening to show their support for this worthy initiative of the WWBA and help raise funds towards the site’s development.

Once again, congratulations to one and all who played a part in the success of the night. Feels great to be a part of this community!

Saturday night makes the two years of hard work all worthwhile… MASSIVE thanks to all who were involved in organising, running & cleaning up the Fireworks Night.

It was a well run, happy community event, enjoyed by one and all. Well done! Look forward to next year.

We can be proud of the way that our responsible community left the entire Ruddock park area – followed by a dedicated team from the WWBA and sporting groups who were determined to leave Ruddock Park clean and tidy as if no one was even there. That team did not leave until after 10pm.
(Although we did not have much to clean up really, as everyone had done the right thing and used the bins provided).

Here’s looking forward to future development of this open space, as well as funding and formalising the awesome resource that is Westleigh MTB Track. 🙂

NSW Funding Secured!

Major News!

MORE THAN $40,000,000 approved and allocated!

Westleigh Park is going from a dream, to soon be a reality after a “secret” $90 million in the State Budget was allocated for local projects. More than $40M of this funding is allocated to Westleigh’s development.

This funding will ensure successful conversion of the Westleigh Waterboard site into a recreational centrepiece for our region. This is not only a massive bonanza for the local sporting clubs, but a win for Westleigh as it will also provide multifaceted recreational open space for everyone who lives in the area.

What an outstanding result for all who have helped in this Westleigh Waterboard Alliance effort to ‘have a local voice’ towards getting a mixture of all weather facilities for all sports in this site.

Congratulations to everyone involved and those behind the scenes with WWBA to getting this for our community. This will be a wonderful asset for all of us & for our kids to use and enjoy. Thank you also for your support and drive Matt Kean (and everyone behind him as well!) – an amazing team effort that has pulled off the unthinkable!!

Cracker Night Fireworks Extravaganza

Incredible feedback on our inaugural Fireworks night 29 July 2017

Outstanding community event for all the family!

The Westleigh Waterboard Alliance committee was pleased by the turnout of more than 3,000 people, and the overwhelmingly positive feedback we’ve had so far. Thank you to everyone who came along to make it such a fun night.

The event brought together at Ruddock Park so many people within our lovely community, many of whom have taken the chance on social media to share their photos and show their appreciation of all the hard work that the volunteers put in to host this function. The finale of the evening was the fireworks display.

For such a small community to pull this kind of event together in such a short space of time was a remarkable achievement. It could not have been possible without the energy, enthusiasm and generosity of the community at large, and in particular the volunteers, sponsors and donors.

THANK YOU ALL SPONSORS AND DONORS!

Special thanks to our sponsors who helped to make it such a fabulous event.

  • Beaumont Tiles Thornleigh
  • NorthConnex

Our gratitude also to Westleigh RFS fire crew, who attended with their fire truck.

THANK YOU, THE ENTERTAINERS!

A MASSIVE thank you for the musical entertainment ‘Ministry of Rock’ – our live band for the night who performed Aussie rock covers – without charging any money for the gig – the Thornleigh West Public School Stage ‘Funk’ Band and the didgeridoo player, Michael Bellenger. The music certainly added to the festive atmosphere.

THANK YOU, THE VOLUNTEERS!

We also thank the various sporting groups for sharing in the fun (and many of you volunteering to help), to make it such a memorable event. A MASSIVE thank you to all the volunteers who help to make the night possible.

The volunteers who stayed behind afterwards to help clean up, left the park spotless, leaving no trace of the event, thank you. The food truck was out and the gate locked by around 10pm – showing how an event like this can be 100% family friendly fun.

See more on the Facebook page

Thanks again to all who contributed to the success of the event!

Volunteers Wanted!

SEEKING VOLUNTEERS FOR THE NIGHT:

Please show your support for the local sporting development and in particular for the organisation of volunteers who are working hard to make this a successful fundraiser. By coming along to the Cracker Night you can help. Money raised from this event will go towards development of the local sporting facilities.

On the night will be plenty of food options on offer, and the fireworks are being presented by FOTI – the same company that does the Sydney New Years Eve fireworks! Enjoy them “up-close and personal” without the massive crowds of NYE.

It takes a lot of volunteers to run this event. If you could also volunteer to help out it would be appreciated. Follow the link below.
